Like other FromSoftware games before it, Elden Ring has numerous online multiplayer elements that some players might want to make use of.
Some might want to play Elden Ring in co-op with their friends, for example, or simply allow others to join to help them get past a troublesome boss. And the competitive sort might want to invade other players’ games to try to cut them down. But those who like to engage in a spot of multiplayer might be wondering if Elden Ring supports cross-play.
The answer is yes, to an extent. Unfortunately Elden Ring does not have full cross-platform play, so PlayStation gamers can’t join up or face off against Xbox gamers. It does have cross-play within the same family of consoles though. That means PS4 and PS5 gamers can play together, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S gamers can play together.
It will likely come as a disappointment to some. Especially those who have friends planning to pick up Elden Ring on platforms they don’t play on. At least there is cross-play of some kind though, and maybe it will change in the future.
