Want a new side-scrolling beat ’em up game in your life? Numskull Games and Bitmap Bureau are here to help.
The publisher and developer have today lifted the lid on Final Vendetta, a retro-styled beat ’em up that channels the spirit of the likes of Double Dragon and Final Fight. With a unique story, multiple game modes and a soundtrack that we can’t wait to hear more of, this is one to watch for fans of the genre.
If you’re unfamiliar with Bitmap Bureau, the developer behind Final Vendetta, it’s the same team that brought us twin-stick shooter Xeno Crisis and top-down hack-and-slash Battle Axe. The studio is no stranger to retro-inspired games, then, but this will be the team’s first foray into the side-scrolling beat ’em up arena. We’re excited to get our hands on it.
The trailer, which you can watch below, has won us over with its beautiful pixel art style and fabulous characters. And that soundtrack! We can look forward to a mixture of dance and techno tracks from Featurecast, along with four exclusive tracks from Utah Saints. You know, the dance duo who brought us the incredibly catchy Something Good.
Final Vendetta is scheduled to release on May 2022, though the specific release date has yet to be announced. It’ll be coming to PC via Steam, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. Futhermore, PS4, PS5 and Switch will each get a physical release alongside two special limited editions.
The Collector’s Edition comes with a sticker, a deck of collectible cards and a soundtrack CD. The ‘Super Limited Edition’ includes all of that plus an A4 artbook, A3 posted and a USB stick. Pricing for both is yet to be announced.
Give the trailer a watch below and look out for more information on Final Vendetta closer to launch. Needless to say, if beat ’em ups are your jam, this is worth keeping on your radar.
