How to Access Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass Content

Wondering how to access the new content in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that’s available as part of the Booster Course Pass? Here’s everything you need to know.

The Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available from today, adding new content to the game. It all won’t be available straight away, however. Two new cups, each with four new courses, have been added today, 18th March. More will come over the next few months.

You can either buy the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass outright, or if you subscribe to Nintendo’s Switch Online Plus Expansion, you’ll be able to access it for free. However, it won’t be added to your game automatically: you’ll need to redeem it from the store first.

Head to the Nintendo eShop on your Switch and find the Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass. If it’s not showing up on the home screen, searching for ‘Mario Kart’ will point you in the right direction. On the store listing page, you’ll have the option to buy, or to download if you’re a Switch Online Plus subscriber. Make sure you click the right button.

Once it’s downloaded, head into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. You won’t see any new options to access the new content directly. It’s simply been folded into the existing content. Go to start a race, and you’ll now be able to choose from more cups. On the cup select screen, pressing ‘up’ will take you to the Booster Course Pass content. All 12 cups will be there, though you can currently only select the first two. They are:

  • Golden Dash Cup, which includes Paris Promenade (Mario Kart Tour), Toad Circuit (3DS), Choco Mountain (N64) and Coconut Mall (wii)
  • Lucky Cat Cup, which includes Tokyo Blur (Mario Kart Tour), Shroom Ridge (DS), Sky Garden (GBA), Ninja Hideaway (Mario Kart Tour)
