This April, the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase will reveal what the future holds for the headset.
Don’t worry if you’re scratching your head, the Meta Quest is the new name for the Oculus Quest VR headset. It’s the same stand-alone headset with a new name though if, as we have, you’ve been calling it the Oculus Quest for several years, it’s going to take a while to make the new name stick.
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase is set to take place this April 20th, and will feature “..new game announcements, gameplay first-looks, updates on games coming in the next year, and a whole lot of surprise.” All the titles announced or covered should be stand-alone, playable on the Oculus Quest 1 or 2. The Oculus Rift was retired in favour of the Quest since the latter can be plugged in and used as a PC VR headset.
It’s also been rumoured that there’s a new stand-alone headset, albeit a more powerful one, codenamed Cambria. It’s possible it’ll be shown off there, though we suspect that such a grand reveal would get its own dedicated showcase.
