Back 4 Blood’s Tunnels of Terror DLC Goes Underground With a New Launch Trailer

Back 4 Blood Tunnels of Terror

Next week, Back 4 Blood is taking players underground with its Tunnels of Terror DLC.

Yes, fighting zombies, sorry, “ridden”, underground is clearly bad idea, even if you’ve not seen The Descent, The Cave or any number of other similar movies. But that’s not going to stop Back 4 Blood’s cleaners from heading down their and slaughtering their way through the hordes.

We’ve talked about Tunnels of Terror before which, aside from introducing new Ridden Hives, also adds two new playable characters and a handful of weapons. It’s set to land next week, April 12th, and so to whet your appetite for some more slaughter, developer Turtle Rock has put out a new launch trailer.

Our takeaway from the trailer is that these new Ridden seem impressively alien. You can see that the normal ridden were, at some point, people, but these new enemies look as if they’ve stumbled off a space-ship. Ex-firefighter Shanice’s statement that there must be valuable weapons down in the tunnels seems flawed, but the game needs some excuse to get you down there.

Back 4 Blood’s Tunnels of Terror expansion is included as part of Back 4 Blood: Ultimate EditionBack 4 Blood: Deluxe Edition and Back 4 Blood Annual Pass. You’ll also be able to purchase it standalone, though you’ll of course need the main game on PC, PS4 or Xbox One.

If you’ve yet to tackle Back 4 Blood, check out our review here. We weren’t all that impressed by this squad shooter’s final release and, according to Steam DB, the number of people playing through Steam (in other words, the ones who didn’t get it free through Xbox Game Pass) has tailed off since release. Could Tunnels of Terror be the shot in the arm the game needs? We’ll have to wait and see.
