This year’s F1 game has finally been announced, and it promises a wealth of new features.

Launching 1st July on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC, it’s been revealed that F1 22 will feature new hybrid cars. Of course, it’s inline with the sport’s reimagined race weekends, which now include F1 Sprint races. And for the first time, players will be able to take part in the Miami Grand Prix.

Perhaps the biggest new feature in F1 22, however, is the introduction of F1 Life, a customisable hub where players can show off their collection of supercars and other possessions such as clothing and accessories. They’ll be earned via gameplay, as well as via the Podium Pass and the in-game brand store. It sounds a little crass, but we’ll wait to see what it’s like before being too judgmental.

Elsewhere, gameplay improvements include updated physics to accommodate for new aero rules, and a re-working of the tyre model. Adaptive AI has also been introduced to keep the gameplay competitive for players of all skill levels. On top of that, there are enhancements to various modes such as My Team. And the PC version of F1 22 will support VR via the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, allowing for gameplay that’s more immersive than ever before. It’s just a shame there’s no mention of the return of Story Mode – we rather enjoyed F1 2021‘s Braking Point.

F1 22 is available to pre-order right now, with the Champions Edition of the game including three-days early access and a time-limited Miami inspired content pack. For more information on the game, watch the reveal trailer below, and keep your eyes on the official Formula 1 game website.
