How to Turn Off Random Battles in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition

Chrono Cross Radical Dreamers Edition

Wondering how to turn off random battles with enemies in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition? Here’s what you need to know.

Random battles were something you were stuck with in the original release of Chrono Cross. Like in many JRPGs, fighting against enemies that you stumble upon while exploring the world was just part of the experience. Well, it doesn’t have to be anymore. One of a handful of new features added to Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, you can now turn off random battles. But how?

Disabling random battles is very easy. At any point in the game, simply press in the left thumbstick on your controller (L3). This will toggle random battles to ‘off’. Now, when you walk past an enemy while exploring, it won’t engage you in combat. It means you’re free to explore and progress through the story without being interrupted. Hooray! To turn random battles back on, simply press the left thumbstick in again.

There’s one small caveat with turning off random battles in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, however. Enemies are quite large within the world, and their positioning can sometimes stop you moving past. And so to get past them, you simply might have no option but to fight. It’s annoying, but it at least doesn’t happen too often. Having to fight a handful of random battles is at least better than having to fight them all.
