Eldest Souls Depths of the Forgotten Expansion Entices Players Back Into the Fray

Eldest Souls Depths of the Forgotten 1

If, like us, you rather enjoyed Fallen Flag Studio’s Eldest Souls when it released last year, you might be glad to hear that there’s a reason to revisit it.

Available now on all formats, Depths of the Forgotten is a major expansion for Eldest Souls that adds a considerable amount of content. It challenges players to venture into a new region in which three powerful adversaries have been caged. And of course, you’re going to have to face off against them. But the best thing about the new expansion? It’s absolutely free.

Simply update Eldest Souls and you’ll find the new content added to the game. And so, jumping once again into its campaign, you’ll find the new region to explore. The three additional bosses that it houses are a challenging bunch. One is a battle-weary warrior whose strength is to be feared. Another is the result of a genetic experiment gone wrong: the grotesque amalgamation of a spider and a woman. And the last is a king; his corpse just as defiled as his kingdom.

You’re able to tackle these bosses straight away outside of the campaign, too, thanks to the Arena. In fact, it makes a good place to practice your skills against them, and try out new character builds. But Depths of the Forgotten also has more to offer. There are four new weapons to acquire, a new weapon customisation system, a new NPC and a new shard that can be assembled from the pieces dropped by the newly introduced trio of bosses.

Needless to say, for fans of Eldest Souls there’s quite a lot to draw them back in. Especially when you consider there’s also new lore to further enrich the world. And for those who like challenging soulslikes that haven’t yet played it, there’s never been a better time. It has some issues, but Eldest Souls is a great-looking game with unique combat system and some novel ideas. And now it’s more feature and content-packed than ever before.

Eldest Souls and Depths of the Forgotten are available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC. Check out the trailer for the new expansion below.
