Limited Run Has Unveiled a Massive 33 Physical Games

Limited Run Announcement

Publisher Limited Run has revealed that they’ve got over 30 physical releases in the works.

As mucky as that might sound, we’re talking about physical versions of games that, in an increasingly digital age, might not otherwise exist. Limited Run, like Super Rare Games and Signature Edition Games take digital releases and box them up on disc or cartridge, complete with cover art. In some cases, they produce collectors editions, adding in posters, mini-statues and other items.

Limited Run is perhaps the most prolific of these three companies so it’s not a big surprise that, as revealed at their LRG3 Summer Showcase, they’re working on a grand total of 33 physical editions. Those titles are as follows:

A Boy and His Blob: Retro Collection (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox)
American Hero (PS4, PS5, Switch, PC)
BATS: Bloodsucker Anti-Terror Squad (PS4, Switch)
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Retro Collection (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox)
Blade Runner Enhanced Edition (PS4, PS5, Switch)
Blossom Tales 2 (Switch)
D (PC, 3DO)
Deathwish (PS4, PS5, Switch)
DoDonPachi Resurrection (Switch)
Doom 64 (Xbox)
Doom Eternal (Switch)
Enclave (PS4, PS5, Switch)
ESPGaluda II (Switch)
Frogun (PS4, PS5, Switch)
Garden Story (Switch)
Glover (N64)
Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D (3DS)
Konami Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection (Switch, PS4)
LUNARK (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox)
Night Trap (PS5)
Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Definitive Edition (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox)
PowerSlave: Exhumed (PS4, Switch, Xbox)
Prize Fighter: Remastered (PS4, PS5)
Rendering Ranger R-2 (PS4, PS5, Switch, SNES)
River City Girls 2 (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox)
Shadowrun Trilogy (PS4, Xbox, Switch)
Shantae 20th Anniversary PlayStation Collection (PS4, PS5)
Skelattack (PS4, Switch)
Spidersaurs (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox)
STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic II (Switch, PC)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge (PS4, Switch, Xbox)
Tetris Effect: Connected (Switch)
Undermine (PS4, Switch)

There’s certainly a few tempting titles there but there are also a couple of confusing entries. Take Doom Eternal on the Switch – yes, there was a boxed PS4 and Xbox version but the Switch never got one. Limited Run are putting that right with a $59.99 boxed cartridge edition which isn’t a bad deal for Switch owners given that the digital version costs the same.

We’re also tempted by the boxed version of Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition, not least because we have fond memories of the original which, each time you played, switched up the identity of some of the replicants.

So how do you get your hands on these boxed editions? Typically, you have to pre-order them through Limited Run’s website though not are all available for pre-order right now. Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition, for example, will be open for pre-order this June 24th. You could always try eBay after the fact though you may end up paying a premium.

We should, also point out that Limited Run’s runs are limited because they choose to make them, so how much they’re really “worth” is debateable. If you want to take the plunge you can browse Limited Run’s catalogue of existing and upcoming physical editions here.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
