If you’re new to Diablo Immortal – and to Diablo in general – you might be wondering what character class you should play as. Hopefully we can help.
Each character class in Diablo Immortal has their own unique skills and abilities. We’d recommend you try them all out eventually – after all, that’s the only way you’ll truly know which one feels right for you. But we can help you make that initial choice.
Whether you prefer playing a ranged character, a melee character or a magic character will inform your choice when it comes to choosing who to play as in Diablo Immortal. Ultimately, there are no right or wrong choices here – every character has strengths and weaknesses. But you’ll undoubtedly enjoy some more than others.
Here’s a little about each character class in Diablo Immortal, and what we think their strengths and weaknesses are.
Which Diablo Immortal Class to Choose: Barbarian
- A heavy-hitting melee character
- You’ll need to get up-close and personal
- Skills are powerful, such as a whirlwind, sending you spinning into nearby enemies, and a huge hammer, dealing damage to those in front
- Equipment is strength-based
- Can generally take a lot of damage, but you’ll need to focus on building health and resistance since you’ll be close to enemies
Crusader
- Another melee character
- Some skills are faith-based, imbuing hard hits with magical properties
- Equipment is strength-based
- Armour is heavy, often better protected than other character classes
Monk
- Master of martial arts
- A very fast melee character
- Uses fists to attack in flurries
- Hits fast and hard, but has lower defences than a Barbarian or Crusader
- Along with attacks, skills include supportive mantras, handy if playing with a team
Demon Hunter
- Ranged character that uses crossbows
- Low defences, but can keep a distance from enemies
- Skills include firing powerful volleys of arrows, exploding arrows and, eventually, a sentry
Necromancer
- A manipulator of death
- A hardy and resilient class
- One of the coolest-looking characters!
- Can command the dead to fight for them
- Dependent on ‘pets’ which can be a little unwieldy
Wizard
- A magic-based character
- Ranged attacks – spellcaster who equips a magic wand
- Can be very powerful, although limited defences particularly against melee attacks
- Requires you to keep a distance from your enemies
- Available skills cover all elements, from a fiery meteor falling from the sky to a ray of frost
