Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels

Forza Horizon 5’s Hot Wheels Expansion is Now Available

Forza Horizon 5′s first expansion has landed today: Hot Wheels.

Despite Hot Wheels being a part of Forza Horizon 3 and there now being a dedicated Hot Wheels racing game, Mattel’s toy cars once again provide the inspiration for Forza Horizon 5‘s first expansion. Not that it’s a bad thing; it might not be original, but it’s a lot of fun.

If you own the Premium Edition of Forza Horizon 5 or purchased the Expansions Bundle, you’ll be able to jump into the Hot Wheels expansion straight away. Simply ensure the expansion is downloaded onto your console and the latest version of the game is installed. If you simply have the base version of the game, you’ll need to purchase the standalone Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels Expansion. It costs $19.99 or your local equivalent.

It’s a fairly expensive DLC then, but it does add plenty of new content. The Hot Wheels expansion takes place in a brand new area of the map. It’s an expansive biome covered in signature orange Hot Wheels tracks, complete with impossibly high ramps and crazy loops. According to Xbox Wire, there’s 131 miles of Hot Wheels tracks to go full-speed along. Phew.

There’s a new story to play through, too. Hot Wheels: A History of Speed is a five-chapter Horizon story which you’ll unlock as you expand your Hot Wheels Rank – a new progress indicator exclusive to the content within the DLC. For the first time in Forza Horizon history, you can also play the entire expansion in online co-op.

Of course, Hot Wheels content has also been added to EventLab, and so if you’re the creative type, you can get busy building your own tracks. People who don’t own the expansion will also be able to enjoy Blueprints on the main map that incorporate Hot Wheels props.

There’s also some new accessibility options added to Forza Horizon 5. Exclusive to the Hot Wheels locations, there are new camera options: Chase Cam and Far Chase Cam. Player can also now toggle motion blur settings to suit – Hot Wheels is all about going fast, after all.
