Hitman 3’s New Ambrose Island Map Arrives This Month

Hitman 3 Ambrose Island

Hitman 3’s new map, Ambrose Island, arrives this month, sending you into a pirate stronghold.

Ambrose Island, which hits Hitman 3 this July 26th, which will see you tangling with pirates. We’re not talking about the sabre-swinging, eye-patch wearing, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag variety, either. These pirates are the modern sort, with assault rifles and an eye for balding, bar-coded intruders.

So how does this tie into the events of Hitman 3? We’re hoping it doesn’t. Without giving too much away, Hitman 3 leaves the door open for hired assassin Agent 47 to embark on more contracts and we’ve got our fingers crossed that this is just that, a lone contract. Developer IO Interactive has, for the most part, moved on to their 007 game, but we’ll gladly pay for more Hitman 3 maps.

But what’s really remarkable about this map is that it’s free. It’s not some spin on an existing level, like the disappointing – and paid – Seven Deadly Sins DLC. It’s a new sandbox level, with multiple ways to assassinate your target who, we assume is the pirate leader.

And, going by the trailer, it hasn’t cut any corners – there’s some sort of mini-mansion, a huge bar area, docks and a massive radio tower. Can you throw someone off the tower? We don’t know. Are we going to try? Absolutely.

If you own Hitman 3 on any platform, this July 26th you’ll be able to ply your gruesome trade on Ambrose Island. If you’ve not picked up Hitman 3, you can read our review here, and get it on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Switch, PC and Stadia.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
