How Long Does it Take to Beat Stray?

Wondering how long it takes to complete Stray, the game that sees you play as a cat in a futuristic world? Here’s what you need to know.

The good news – or the bad news, depending on how you look at it – is that Stray isn’t very long. We saw the credits roll in about six hours, completing the game, doing a fair bit of exploring and making a chunk in most of the side content.

It’s a shame, because we were having such a great time that we wanted Stray to take longer to beat. Your own mileage might differ slightly, of course. There are several puzzles to beat, and some of those may take more working out than others. For us, since we’d spent a lot of time exploring, we’d generally found the solution before we even needed it, making most of the game a cakewalk.

Spend more time in the first area, as that’s where most of the additional missions are. Doing the side content, like finding all of the sheets of music, for example, will add time to your play count. Do everything that the game has to offer, and you’ll likely beat Stray in 8-10 hours.

However long it takes you, though, Stray is well worth jumping into. We loved it: you can read our review here.

Kim's been into video games since playing Dizzy on her brother's Commodore 64 as a wee nipper. She'll give just about anything a go, but she's got a soft spot for story-driven adventures and open world escapades. If she's not gaming, she's probably cooing over pictures of baby animals or watching re-runs of Friends for the 137th time.
