Xbox Games With Gold won’t be featuring any more Xbox 360 games as of this October. Can we get an awwwww?
No? We don’t blame you. Up until now, Xbox Games With Gold, the “free” monthly games available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers, have featured two Xbox 360 games and two Xbox One games. And, for the most part, we’ve thought… “Why can’t we have four Xbox One games instead?”
Yes, there have been a few great Xbox 360 games but most of the remaining 360 games we would want to play on the Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S just aren’t backwards compatible. In fact, we’d pay good money to get the original, non-HD collection Silent Hill 2 running on the console, but Microsoft are done with the backwards combability programme.
The good news is that Xbox Live Gold subscribers will, indeed, be getting four Xbox One games per month. If you are a subscriber who’s already claimed a 360 Games With Gold title, don’t worry; you’ll still be able to download it. The reason Microsoft has given for this change is that, “We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog”.
As for anyone still playing the Xbox 360 online? You won’t be getting any Games With Gold, but Microsoft aren’t shutting down the online play, you’ll still be able to play most of your multiplayer-enabled 360 titles.
There are still two months to go till October so let’s hope the two Games With Gold give us some great 360 games. And if you’ve forgotten about this month’s titles, here’s what’s on offer.
