Kena: Bridge of Spirits is getting a heaping helping of free anniversary content, with an update arriving this September 27th.
The update doesn’t add any new story content, but given that Kena: Bridge of Spirits’ ending was fairly conclusive, that’s not a huge surprise. Instead, developer Ember Lab has a whole range of little extras in store. We gave this action-adventure a massive 10/10, and a big “awww” for its cutesy Rot companions, so we’re definitely up for more Kena.
So what’s in store? For a start, the content (dubbed the Anniversary Update) will add a New Game+ mode. You’ll be able to replay the game with all your unlocked abilities and if that sounds like it’s going to be too easy, think again. New Game+ will add new enemy types tougher combat and ensure that you’re not in for a cakewalk.
On top of that, the game is receiving:
- Charmstones (a new type of collectible, some containing a buff and debuff)
- Spirit Guide Trials (a fast-action mode featuring obstacle courses and more)
- New outfits (unlocked via Spirit Guide Trials)
In short, if you’ve not touched the game in a while, it’s a good excuse to go back. And if you are still regularly teaming up with your cute but gross-sounding Rot companions, the New Game+ and Trials modes should tax you a little more.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is available on PS4, PS5 and PC. The free Anniversary Update will arrive this September 27th.
