WWE 2K22 might have been a marked improvement over previous entries in the series, but soon it will possibly have some competition.
All Elite Wrestling, also known as AEW, has finally revealed its own wrestling game, which aims to be the best yet. Called AEW: Fight Forever, the title is being developed by Yuke’s, who previously worked on the WWE 2K series, and will be published by THQ Nordic.
Not a great deal has been revealed about AEW: Fight Forever yet, but we do know it will feature a wide variety of match types including ladder matches, casino battle royale, and even exploding barbed wire death matches. We also know there’ll be a career mode, plenty of customisation options, and online multiplayer. Tandem offensive moves in particular are set to make playing tag-team matches shine.
With Kenny Omega, EVP of AEW, being a driving force behind the title, THQ Nordic executive producer Reinhard Police stated that his involvement “is resulting in an AEW experience that draws heavily on the arcade feel that first won wrestling gamer hearts more than two decades ago”.
Set to launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Switch, no release date for AEW: Fight Forever has been given. Those interested in the title should probably tune in to the THQ Nordic showcase taking place on 12th August. Chances are more will be revealed. Until then, take a peek at the teaser trailer above.
