Crypt of the Necrodancer Gets a Big Reveal This Thursday

Crypt of the Necrodancer is far from dead, and we’re not just talking about the recent surprise patch.

This rhythm-based roguelite, developed by Brace Yourself Games, made our list of Best PS4 Rhythm Games and, whichever platform you’re playing it on, it’s a ridiculous amount of fun. Now, Brace Yourself have confirmed a new Crypt of the Necrodancer announcement, set to take place this Thursday.

At the beginning of July, the developer teased that there was something Necrodancer-related in the works but has still not revealed the nature of this new Necro-content. The announcement should shed some light on this, and will feature “..super-secret NecroDancer-related news comin'”.

Could we be looking at a full-blown sequel? We’d love to see Cadence of Hyrule, Nintendo/Brace Yourself’s Zelda/Necrodancer crossover get a wider release but Nintendo isn’t in the habit of sharing. An expansion is another possibility – Crypt of the Necrodancer’s retro-stylings mean that it’s not in dire need of a graphical facelift, so an expansion seems like a reasonable guess.

And the outside bet? A Crypt of the Necrodancer animated movie which, while we’d definitely watch it, isn’t something we could see happening any time soon. Whatever’s in store, you can find out by tuning into Brace Yourself’s YouTube announcement this August 4th at 6:00PM BST or 10:00AM PT.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
