Not played Death Stranding? Then you’re in for a interesting experience tomorrow, providing you’re a PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber.
In a surprise announcement, Microsoft has announced that the open-world courier-em-up will be coming to PC, courtesy of PC Game Pass, from the 23rd of August. Playing as Sam Porter Bridges, portrayed by Norman Reedus, Death Stranding tasks you with delivering parcels, including the occasional corpse, around a post-apocalyptic world.
That’s not all, mind you, you’ll also have to contend with ghosts, cargo-stealing bandits and a man who bought a job lot of Poundland Halloween masks. You can check out our review here; we had some fun with it but found it to be a bit of a slog. However, it’s an acquired taste and given you’ll be able to get it for free, we’d encourage you to give it a try.
There is one catch, however. The version that will be dropping is not, in all likelihood, the Director’s Cut version, which featured a wealth of extra content – Microsoft has certainly made no mention of it. Yes, you could upgrade the Steam Store and Epic Games Store versions for $9.99, but that may not be an option.
Still, given that you’re getting the game for nothing (it wasn’t announced as one of this August’s titles) you’ve nothing to lose by stepping into Sam Porter Bridges’ well-worn shoes.
Death Stranding will arrive on PC Game Pass tomorrow, August 23rd and a sequel is currently in development.
