The Devil in Me, the latest entry in Supermassive’s The Dark Pictures series is unleashing hell this November.
Whether that hell is supernatural, man-made, or all in the protagonists’ heads is still up for grabs. The Devil in Me takes place in a horror hotel, a replica of the one used by 19th century murderer H H Holmes so you can expect a few artificial jump scares, but it’ll be up to you to uncover the true nature of the horror.
However, compared to previous entries in the series, The Devil in Me promises to be a little more interactive. Posting on Xbox Wire, Supermassive Games’ Tom Heaton revealed that there’ll be some light puzzle elements added to the mix, as well as some more taxing physical activities – shimmying across a ledge and so forth.
On top of that, the protagonists – filmmakers who are trapped inside the hotel – will each have their own film-related abilities. Eg, Erin has a microphone that can pick up sounds that would be all but inaudible. We’re actually hoping the game doesn’t push you too hard to use those abilities, as it seems like it’d be more fun to experiment with them yourself.
You can check out some of these new features in the new Gamescom trailer above. We’ve loved previous entries in the series, most recently the excellent House of Ashes and since this title brings The Dark Pictures first season to a close, we’re hoping The Devil in Me proves to the series’ best yet.
You can pick up The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me when it arrives on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this November 18th.
