Dragon Battler Century: Age of Ashes is Out Now on PlayStation

Century Age of Ashes PlayStation

Century: Age of Ashes is out now on PlayStation and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

We’re not suggesting that developer Playwing LTD deliberately delayed Century: Age of Ashes from its original July PlayStation release just to fit in with House of the Dragon. But we’re sure this free-to-play multiplayer dragon battler will get some benefit from a show about a dynasty that rides dragons. And we’re happy to report that Century is mercifully incest-free.

In fact, we had a real blast with Century: Age of Ashes when we got our hands on the PC version. We remarked that, “Its dragons are wonderful to control, giving you confidence to try and fly through narrow chambers and squeeze through small gaps.” And, pun probably intended, we praised its “heated dogfights”.

Now, if you’ve got a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you can play it for free. And, as is the case with free-to-play PlayStation titles you don’t need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus. So what’s the catch? As you might have guessed, there are in-game purchases though, as noted on the game’s Steam page:

“Century: Age of Ashes is completely free-to-play. In order to keep the experience fair and equitable, in-game purchases are purely cosmetic. Battles are won by skill and teamwork alone.”

Could that change? It’s possible, but hopefully the dragon-battles will remain fair. So if free-to-play multiplayer dragon-vs-dragon combat appeals to you, you can download Century: Age of Ashes on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
