HBO’s The Last of Us New Trailer Shows Off ‘Left Behind’ DLC Scenes

The Last of Us HBO

A brand new trailer has just dropped for HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us series and hoo boy, we can’t wait.

The 1 minute, 48 second long trailer is our longest look at the series yet, showing us plenty of Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in action. There’s a lot of settings on show, and a lot of action sequences to look forward to. But one thing really stands out to us: HBO’s The Last of Us is going to stick very closely to the plot of the game.

While the trailer isn’t exactly in order, we can pick out a lot of key scenes here. There’s a glimpse of Joel and Sarah just as the outbreak happens, there’s Joel and Ellie as they begin their journey out of the city and, perhaps most of note, is a scene of Ellie and who we assume is Riley – who featured in The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC.

The DLC, which released eight months after The Last of Us first landed on PS3, focuses on Ellie and her best friend Riley at a point in time before she meets Joel. The DLC revolves around their special friendship and, ultimately, reveals what happens to Riley.

And so we’re happy to see Riley being featured in HBO’s The Last of Us, predominantly enough to make it into the trailer.

You can watch the trailer for yourself below, and we can tell you right away: it’s looking incredible. We can’t wait to see more, but we have to wait until an unannounced date in 2023 for it to start airing.
