It seems lots of people have been wondering if Quidditch will feature in Hogwarts Legacy. Well, the game’s official FAQ has given us the answer.
And it’s probably not the answer fans were hoping for. Because, unfortunately, players won’t be able to partake in a game of Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy.
“Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy,” the answer on the game’s FAQ page reads. “However, broom flight for traversal and broom race challenges are part of the game. Players can also fly brooms to explore new and familiar locations surrounding Hogwarts Castle.”
There’s no real reason given for the lack of Quidditch. And technically, it should be featured in the game, if we’re getting into Hogwarts lore. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, it was mentioned that the Gryffindor Quidditch Team suffered a terrible defeat in the 1690s – and there wouldn’t be another worse for 300 years.
We know that Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s, so the practice of Quidditch at the school should be well established. Alas, for whatever reason, it won’t be part of your own Hogwarts experience. From a developmental standpoint, it would essentially mean building a fully-fledged sports game within an already massive RPG, so we can understand. It’s just disappointing to know we won’t be catching a Golden Snitch any time soon.
Still, we’re at least happy to know that broomstick traversal is something we can look forward to. Even if it’s for more practical reasons than competitive sport.
