The Latest Multiversus Fighter is Gizmo From Gremlins

Multiversus Gizmo

The latest Multiversus fighter has been revealed and it’s is Gizmo from Gremlins and Gremlins 2, playable right now.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to pour water on Gizmo and overwhelm your opponents with a wave of sharp-toothed, pointy eared Gremlins. But if you’re a fan of the fuzzy Mogwai, who went full Rambo in Gremlins 2, playing as him in Multiversus could be fun.

His impending presence was unofficially leaked a while back – in fact, we can’t off-hand think of a Multiversus fighter that hasn’t been leaked at some point. But, as the latest addition to this platform-based brawler, he’s helping bulk up an already impressive roster.

Gizmo’s Multiversus moves include firing a bow and arrow, seen in Gremlins 2, but his cutest ability, as a Support character, is being able to attack himself to characters like some fuzzy limpet and help absorb damage. In the movies, getting him wet spawns copyright Mogwai who, when they eat after midnight, turn into Gremlins.

Here, you can purchase his “Combat Gizmo” skin, but you can’t go full on Gremlin, not least because the Gremlins are far ganglier than Gizmo’s Mogwai form, so he’d need a new player model. That’s not to say the Gremlins won’t get added later, but they’ll likely be separate fighters, not a new skin for Gizmo.

Multiversus is currently in beta but it’s still free-to-play and is available on PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. You can read our impressions of the Super-Smash-Bros-a-like here.

Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
