Xbox Games with Gold Gets a Disappointing October Line-Up

Xbox Games With Gold October

Microsoft has announced October’s Xbox Games with Gold line-up and it’s pretty disappointing.

We’re not talking about the quality of the Xbox Games with Gold games on offer, either. Yes, the first title, Windbound, earned a mediocre 5 out 10 when we reviewed it. We remarked that “..its many frustrations outweigh the beautiful game it could have been.”

However, Bomber Crew, which we took for a brief jaunt, is rather fun. It was a better game than its space-based sequel, Space Crew, certainly. It’s not a game you’ll plunge hour after hour into in one sitting, but you’ll definitely come back to it every now and then.

No, the real problem with have with this line-up is that there’s a meagre two games. Previously, Xbox Games with Gold has included two Xbox 360 games and two Xbox One games, a total of four. And when Microsoft announced Xbox 360 games would no longer be included, we foolishly assumed that we’d be getting a total of four Xbox One games.

As you can see, that’s not the case. Windbound and Bomber Crew, that’s all Xbox Live Gold subscribers are getting this month. And, unless Microsoft changes their tune, that’s how it’s going to be going forward. As to when these games are available, you can pick them up as follows:

  • Windbound ($19.99 ERP): Available October 1 to 31
  • Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition ($24.99 ERP): Available October 16 to November 15

Yes, we know these games are a “bonus”, that you’re really paying to play games online, but this still seems like a pretty poor deal.
