Does Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord have multiplayer player versus player co-op play so you can inflict your will on human players? Read on.
Let’s face it, half the fun of Command & Conquer and its ilk was going into battle against real people and crushing them. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is more hands on than C&C, but can you aid or annihilate other players in multiplayer mode?
The answer is yes, you can, with certain limitations. You can’t compete against a human player in the game’s main or sandbox mode as those modes are single-player. So you won’t get the joy of snatching territory from a foe. However, you can fight other players and even aid in the conquest of a castle.
Here are the modes on offer to you, accessed via “Multiplayer” from the main Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord menu.
- Captain (via Matchmaking): A team-based 6 vs 6 mode, though each human player gets their own AI soldiers.
- Skirmish (via Matchmaking): Also a team-based 6 vs 6 mode, though it’s just human players vs human players, with no AI sub-teams involved.
- Team Deathmatch (via Custom Game): Two teams of sixty players each, with no AI troops, take each other on.
- Siege (via Custom Game): Another 60 vs 60 team mode but one team is defending a castle while the other is assaulting it.
And there you have it. Overall, these modes are a nice bonus but you shouldn’t be buying Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord just to take on other players.
