How to Heal in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

You’re going to get hurt playing Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, So how do you go about healing? Here’s what you need to know.

Firstly, you need to understand that the game takes a semi-realistic approach to healing. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord doesn’t let you shove healing items into your face and heal mid or  even post-battle, so there’s no digging through bins, BioShock-style, drinking a discarded health potion and being right as rain.

Secondly, you don’t automatically regenerate your full health between battles. So if you go from battle to battle without healing, even if you win the first couple of times, your diminishing health pool will see you losing.  So what do you do? You just wait.

While you can level up your skills – medicine, for example – to heal faster, it’s still a waiting game. Watch the heart on the bottom right of the screen to see what health percentage you’re at. The good news is you can wait without the worry of being attacked by going to a settlement, which will make you heal quicker.

You can also wait at a settlement using the “Wait here for some time” option which will speed things up. However, this option is only available after the tutorial or straight away in a sandbox game. You’ll also receive a daily gold charge for hanging around. And that’s how you heal in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. So, before you go marching into battle, make sure you’re properly healed up.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
