Lost Phone Horror Simulacra 3 Arrives this Month

Simulcra 3

Simulacra 3, third entry in the lost phone FMV horror series deals with much more than a lost phone.

Yes, the game does revolve around you discovering an discarded mobile. And, yes, poring through texts, video clips and more you should eventually discover the fate of its owner. But what’s intriguing about Simulacra 3 is that a whole bunch of other people have been disappearing too.

You’re tasked with assisting journalist Ruby Myers who’s got her hands on the phone of the missing Paul Castillo. She’s set to do the “legwork” – eg, go to dangerous places, while you hack the phone for clues. But don’t worry, we’re sure nothing unpleasant would ever happen to a journalist investigating probably-supernatural disappearances.

We gave the original Simulacra a 7 out 10, explaining that it kept us hooked, though we couldn’t see yourselves replaying it. It also made our list of the Best FMV Games You Should Play, so this third entry should be worth diving into. And now, it’s got a Halloween release date of… October 25th.

Okay, it’s not the 31st, but it’s still closer to Halloween than the release of Halloween Ends. It’ll initially be arriving on PC, developed by Kaigan Games and published by Neon Doctrine. That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if it followed in the footsteps of Simulacra 2 and landed on Android and Switch.

You can watch the trailer above, wishlist Simulacra 3 on Steam here, and purchase it digitally this October 25th.

Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
