Sonic Frontiers, the latest entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, arrives this November and it’ll be getting some Monster Hunter content.
However, you needn’t panic – beasts from Capcom’s Monster Hunter series aren’t making their way into Sonic Frontiers. Instead, the speedster will get to mess around with some Monster Hunter equipment and participate in the odd minigame or two.
It’s an unusual crossover, certainly, but we’ve seen stranger. Yes, we’re talking about you, Mad Max and Rockstar Energy Drink. The content will, we’re happy to report, be completely free. You don’t need to have pre-ordered the game either, the content should be coming to everyone.
But.. hang on.. doesn’t Sonic Frontiers look a bit rubbish? Why would you want to pay money for it at all, when you could just play Sonic Mania all over again? The reason is that, despite people’s initial impressions, ours included, Sonic Frontiers seems it could be.. wait for it.. a good 3D Sonic game.
#MonsterHunter is dashing into #SonicFrontiers! π¨

Based on what has been revealed recently, making Sonic open-world could have been the right world. Our first glimpse of Sonic Frontiers was hugely underwhelming, with him roaming around a massive grassy landscape and doing very little else. But it looks as if this was a case of Sega presenting the game poorly, rather than it being out and out terrible.
You can find out for sure, and get your hands on the Monster Hunter free launch-day DLC when Sonic Frontiers launches this November 8th. You can pick it up on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
