The Next Hideo Kojima Game Will Feature Elle Fanning

Hideo Kojima Elle Fanning

Hideo Kojima’s next game is set to feature actor Elle Fanning and we have the sneaking suspicion it’s Death Stranding 2.

Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear and, most recently, Death Stranding, has been teasing his next collaborator. He previously tweeted out pictures of an all-but-blank face, with the words “Who Am I?” and “Where Am I?”. Now, we know that Elle Fanning was the hidden face.

Hideo Kojima revealed Fanning’s role in a typically odd manner. He, or someone working for Kojima Productions, set up a cardboard standee at PAX Australia. The standee bore a QR code which, when scanned, lead to this URL, with the picture of Fanning. And that’s it, so far.

Or is it? The poster features a number of white strands which look similar to those featured in the Death Stranding poster, suggesting to us this could have something do with Death Stranding 2. It’s been confirmed that Death Stranding 2 is the works, sequel to the original mind-bending, ghost-busting delivery game. And if you’ve finished the game you’ll know it makes sense that a sequel could see you playing as a female protagonist.

Or maybe the strands are an indicator that Kojima’s next game will feature strand-like player cooperation. Fanning is an accomplished, award-winning actor with credits that include Maleficent, Super 8 and Neon Demon. So she should be able to pull off whatever role Hideo Kojima has tasked her with. Though, this time around, she’ll probably be doing it from within a mocap suit. We’ll let you know if we hear more.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
