Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales casts you as newly-bitten Spider-Man Miles Morales. But can you also play as Peter Parker?
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales casts you as another Spider-Man who, like Peter Parker, was bitten by a radioactive spider. But, in this web-swinging PlayStation action game, can you also play as Peter Parker, the “original” Spider-Man?
The answer is no. Yes, you could play as Miles Morales in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man, but that was for the purposes of introducing Miles and giving him a tragic background. Because if you’re going to be Spider-Man you need to have at least one dead relative/loved one.
Besides which, this is Miles’ story. Yes, Peter figures into it but it’s a chance for him to show what he can do. It’s also a learning experience for the spider-themed crimefighter, who gets to make his own mistakes. So suddenly shoving you into Peter Parker’s shoes would be a mistake.
Also… what would be the point? This is a stand-alone sequel and, as such, it uses the same open-world man, so you might as well pick up Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4, PS5 or PC. You wouldn’t be gaining much. So, no, you can’t play as Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. So far.
Because now it’s out on PC, we’re sure someone will mod a playable Peter Parker back into the game. We hope that if that does happen they’ll be doing that out of curiosity, rather than… other reasons. But, in the vanilla game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales just has you playing as Miles Morales, not Peter Parker.
