Remedy Entertainment hasconfirmed that Control 2 is currently in development.
We probably won’t see it until after Alan Wake 2, another Remedy title, arrives but Control fans will be happy to know that number 2 is in the works. That means us, too, since we absolutely loved the original game when it was launched back in 2019.
If you’ve not played Control, this action adventure takes place in an SCP-style organisation that specialises in tracking down and containing odd artifacts. Things naturally went a bit haywire in the first game which is where your protagonist Jesse Faden came in. Without spoiling the ending of the original, we’d expect Control 2 to start off on a different note.
The announcement came today, tweeted out by Remedy Entertainment which developed the original. However, this sequel will be co-developed and co-published with 505 Games. There was nothing wrong with the original Control but Remedy had expressed a desire for a bigger-budget Control game, so 505’s support may be just what the company needs.
We have signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-develop and co-publish Control 2, a sequel to Control. Read the announcement: https://t.co/UD1iFHvCeH
This is a very exciting moment for us! Mikael Kasurinen, Game Director of the franchise, tells more: https://t.co/KJCHIWgBlU pic.twitter.com/TuTEMr1tjv

According to franchise director Mikael Kasurinen:
“With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.”
So don’t expect a 2023 release, though we might get a trailer this year. But we’re excited to hear that Control is getting the sequel it deserves and can’t wait to get our hands on it.
