After launching on PC and Nintendo Switch, Grapple Dog has swung its way onto Xbox.
This silly-but-fun platformer, out on Xbox Series X|S right now, sees you jumping, swinging and monster-murdering your way around several islands, facing off with various menacing bosses. Grapple Dog has big 90s platformer energy and, though we wish it didn’t lock later islands away, we still had an absolute blast when we reviewed it.
Now it’s out on Xbox, letting a whole new console arena take on Grapple Dog’s levels. And we do mean levels, not enemies, though are plenty of baddies to bash. Playing the game through is fun, but it’s also a gateway to speedrunning, so much so that we’ve found yourself dipping back into the game.
In particular, we’ve had a lot of fun trying to beat our own level records. You can’t swing off every single surface but taking control of protagonist Pablo and shaving a few seconds off your level time is surprisingly satisfying. Plus, Pablo, the titular Grapple Dog, is just adorable and the soundtrack is absolutely spot on.
You can read our full review of Grapple Dog here, where we awarded it 7 out of 10 and pick it up on PC, Nintendo Switch and now Xbox Series X|S. It’s published by Super Rare Games, under their Super Rare Originals label, priced at £12.49.
You can also grab a physical release of the Switch version from Super Rare, including a fancier collector’s edition of the game, priced at £78.00.
