Kratos is back yet again, and God of War Ragnarok is his biggest and best outing yet.
God of War Ragnarok once again finds Kratos and his son Atreus embarking an a grand adventure, although this time the stakes are higher than ever before. Needless to say, they’ll need to keep their wits about them, and also collect allies that they can rely upon. And so you might be wondering if God of War Ragnarok has any co-op or multiplayer features?
The answer is, unfortunately, no. God of War Ragnarok, like 2018’s God of War, is very much a single-player-only experience. While the fact that Kratos is pretty much always accompanied by someone during his travels makes it the perfect opportunity for some co-op action, it’s not to be. And we’d love some kind of adversarial mode where we can take control of the likes of Thor, but it’s not in this game.
The only way you’re going to get any kind of co-op or multiplayer fun out of God of War Ragnarok is if you create some kind of game yourself: perhaps crank up the difficulty and pass the controller around every time you die, or something. Fun fact: the first and only God of War game to have multiplayer features was 2013’s God of War Ascension. Amazingly, they’re still live, too. So, if you still have a PS3 set up or have a PS Plus Premium subscription along with a PS4 or PS5, perhaps give that a go.
