Gungrave G.O.R.E. brings its protagonist Grave back from the dead, but why? A new trailer reveals the new menace he’s tasked with combatting.
According to the trailer, a drug cartel known as the Raven Clan has been pushing a new drug, known as Seed. That’s not good news in general but in the case of Gungrave G.O.R.E., the drug is alien in origin and can be used to control people.
Yes, there’s every chance people have been injecting themselves with tiny alien parasites – that’s our prediction for the late game twist, at least. As Grave, you have to dispatch the pushers and their soldiers. The snag is that Seed gives certain users super powers so, as the trailer confirms, you’ll have to deal with boss characters beating you down.
It makes sense that, given how badass Grave is, his enemies would need an extra edge. He’s also had his own anime series, two previous PS2 games and more. He’s no stranger to causing some mayhem and this new entry looks to be appropriately gruesome.
The rest of the trailer delves into the powers you can employ yourself – sending projectiles back, using your coffin’s chain to hook foes and more. In fact, we got to mess with some of these movies when we previewed the game back last month.
However, we were a little disappointed, remarking that “For two hours, we basically just tapped the right trigger while edging forward in linear environments.” Hopefully the final game will offer a little more variety and more reason to actually use special moves.
You can get your hands on Gungrave G.O.R.E. when it launches this 22nd November on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
