It’s hard to get excited about Games With Gold lately. Does anyone still care? Regardless, Microsoft keep giving them to us. And so, here’s what you’re getting in December.
The Xbox 360 games are long-gone from the Games With Gold line-up. They still haven’t been replaced with anything, though, so if you’re a Gold subscriber you’ll once again get just two games instead of the old four.
Both games are Xbox One titles, although of course they’re playable on Xbox Series X or S too. Here’s what you have to look forward to:
- On 1st December, you can claim Colt Canyon for free as part of Xbox Games With Gold
- That is followed by Bladed Fury, which becomes available on 16th December.
Colt Canyon is a 2D pixel art shooter that puts you in control of a cowboy. With your partner kidnapped by bandits, it’s your job to head out, take them down, and save your partner.
Bladed Fury, on the other hand, is a 2D action game that’s focused on fluid combat, a fast-paced combo system and plenty of enemies to fight your way through. It’s based on Chinese mythology, and boasts a beautiful art style to boot. When we reviewed this back in 2019, we described it as “a bit of a gem”.
So, there you have it. Two decent games, at least, and if you’re a subscriber, you may as well add them to your library.
If you haven’t yet claimed November’s Games With Gold, you’ve got until the end of tomorrow to claim Praetorians HD Remaster. Dead End Job remains available until 15th December.
