How to Find Free Agents in Football Manager 2023

Football Manager 2023

There is no such thing as free lunch, but there is such a thing as a free agent – and they are often the best way to improve your team in Football Manager 2023.

Searching for free agents in Football Manager 2023 is quite straightforward. Go to the ‘Scouting’ page and then to ‘Players’. There, you will be presented with a list of all the players within your scouting range. You can filter this list of people several ways, and can choose to only see free agents.

There is a quick search option for players with expired contracts, and this will quickly show you who is available. Make sure that other filters aren’t active by accident. Also note the tick boxes for player interest in transfer or loan should either be off just on transfer.

You can also used the contract expiring quick search that shows you those who have a limited time left at their club. Depending on the league and the player, you will be able to enter into contract talks and secure them as a free transfer as soon as that contract expires. Some players will want to see if they can stay on, and some leagues only let you discuss with players who have been listed for release.

You can filter free agents by other aspects by editing the search. The criteria is up to you, but filtering by age and position are obvious things you may want to include.

Finding free agents in Football Manager 2023 this way isn’t perfect, as you’ll likely realise you don’t know much about them. Scouting can help with that. You can scout a player by right-clicking them, selecting ‘Report’ and choosing a scouting option. Read our guide on finding players in Football Manager 2023 for more help with scouting.
