How to Save Your Game in Ship of Fools

Ship of Fools review

Are you wondering how to save your game in Team 17’s new roguelike, Ship of Fools? Here’s what you need to know.

A run through of Ship of Fools might only last a couple of minutes. This is a roguelike, you see, and so if you die, it’s back to your starting island to try all over again. It’s easy to get caught off-guard by a group of vicious enemies, especially when you’re new to the game. But equally, a game might last an hour, or even longer, if you’re doing well. And in those instances, you’ll probably want to know how to save your game in Ship of Fools.

Here’s the bad news: you can’t save your game, at least not mid-run. Quit while you’re out, and you’ll simply be taken back to the start, losing any progress you’ve made. And so, you shouldn’t head out into the waters unless you’ve got enough time to sink into a run.

The good news is that, if you do have to quit, any useful items you’ve earned up until that point, such as upgrade tokens, will still be awarded to you. So not all is lost!

It’s not ideal, however, so we suggest using you’ve console’s sleep/suspend function instead, any time you’d rather save and quit Ship of Fools. The ideal thing to do is simply quit the game when you’re on the starting island: any of your character progression sages automatically and you’ll be right where you left off next time you start.
