A New Amnesia Game is Set to Scare in 2023

Horror fans have yet another game to look forward to in 2023, this time from the creators of SOMA and Amnesia.

Frictional Games has today revealed Amnesia: The Bunker, the latest in its terrifying Amnesia series. Of course, it’s going to try to scare players silly, as ever, but this time it has a number of new innovations that should make it pretty unique. This doesn’t sound like your bog-standard sequel.

For a start, Amnesia: The Bunker is going to give players more agency than ever before. With its semi-open world, players will be able to explore of their free will and choose their own playstyle. So, will you face challenges head-on or opt for a more stealthy approach – the choice is yours. Though they won’t be your only options.

Frictional Games’ aim with Amnesia: The Bunker is to hardly have any scripted events, allowing for emergent gameplay that keeps players on their toes. It should also keep the gameplay fresh on multiple playthroughs, allowing for plenty of longevity. And yes, for the first time your character will have a weapon. It shouldn’t detract from the horror, though. Instead, it will add to the agonising decisions for you to make, such as should you use your last bullet?

You can check out the terrifying reveal trailer for Amnesia: The Bunker below, which gives a taste of the horrors to come. It’s set to launch next March on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
