Children of Morta’s Paws and Claws DLC, launched in August of 2020, has raised over $300,000 for charity.
Children of Morta itself launched in 2019 and, developed by Dead Mage and published by 11 bit studios, it’s pretty excellent roguelike in its own right. The Paws and Claws charity DLC is priced at between £1 and £4, depending what platform you’re on. It adds an animal shelter to the game that lets you appreciate, treat and feed animals – in short, it’s adorable.
And, even better, every penny of the proceeds from its sale has been going to charity. The charity in question, Humane Society International, supports animals around the world and, we’re happy to report, it doesn’t run kill-shelters – you can read their FAQ here.
“11 bit studios would like to extend a warm thank you to players around the globe for their continuous support for HSI, and for their tremendous generosity while they also raised money for Ukraine through sales of This War of Mine and other titles,” the publisher said.
If you’ve missed out on This War of Mine, it’s a fantastic and appropriately grim game. It takes place in a warzone and sees you keeping a group of survivors alive. Well, alive-ish – it’s genuinely tough to save every single one which is sort of the point. HSI has also been assisting the animals of Ukraine who, naturally, haven’t been having a nice time of it either.
Children of Morta is available on Xbox, PlayStation PC and Switch. It’s also heavily discounted on Steam right now, the charity DLC included.
