Ready for more God of War Ragnarok? No, there’s no DLC on the way, but we are going to be getting a New Game Plus mode.

We’re fine with God of War Ragnarok’s lack of downloadable content because, without giving too much away, its ending ties things together nicely. Also, Eric Williams and Cory Barlog have confirmed that the “new” God of War was always intended to be a duology. But the news that a New Game Plus mode is on the way has us grinning.

Developer Santa Monica Studio announced the news through Twitter, stating that New Game Plus will be arriving in Spring 2023. Yes, we were hoping it’d be a surprise Christmas present but we can wait.

Santa Monica Studio has promised to release more details between now and then, but based on the original’s New Game Plus mode, you can expect at least a couple of things. Firstly, you’ll get to keep all the armour, abilities and upgrades you got from completing the game. Does that mean Kratos will be even more badass than before? Absolutely.

However, the enemies are likely to be tougher too. Why? Because the point of New Game Plus mode, in any game, is to provide the player with a fresh challenge. So while you, as Kratos, may be tooled up, don’t expect a cakewalk.

And if you’ve not played God of War Ragnarok (available on PS4 and PS5) ? You can check out our review here, where we called it “… bigger and better than 2018’s God of War in every single way” and awarded it a phenomenal 10 out of 10.
