Great news for Monster Hunter fans! Monster Hunter Rise is making its way to PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in the new year.
Monster Hunter Rise initially launched as a Switch-exclusive title, then followed up with a PC release back in January 2022. A year later, it’s making its way to more formats, with PlayStation and Xbox players soon able to get into the action. Monster Hunter Rise lands on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on 20th January. And if you’re a Game Pass subscriber, you’ll be able to play it as part of your subscription.
However. Despite massive expansion Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak landing on Switch and PC back in summer 2022, this won’t be available at launch on PlayStation and Xbox. We’ll have to wait until spring 2023 to see the expansion make its way to those formats.
Why? Capcom hasn’t given a reason, although we’d hope there’s a technical explanation rather than “to make people pay twice”. It’s a shame it won’t be available at launch, as Sunbreak changes the game in a myriad of ways.
Still, there’s much to look forward to. On Xbox Series X and PS5, players can expect 4K resolution and 60FPS, alongside 3D audio. PS5 players will also enjoy DualSense optimisations such as adaptive triggers depending on your equipped weapon choices.
