MultiVersus’s Latest Patch Adds a Spectator Mode

Multiversus

Multiversus’s new update adds a spectator mode that lets players watch as Arya Stark beats Batman to a pulp.

Sure, the update features other tweaks and fixes but spectator mode is likely to be of real interest to MultiVersus enthusiasts. This feature is accessed through the free-to-play platform brawler’s Custom Game modes. So you can’t just gawp at random people’s matches without them knowing. But if you’re hosting a tournament, it’s a way to prove that your Smash Bros-style shenanigans are worth watching.

On top of the entertainment factor, observers can also pick up tips from watching matches in action. There’s also the option to watch watch bots battle it out, though it’s not clear how useful that’ll be, stripped of the human factor. But players have, for some time, been asking for a spectator mode and now developer Player First Games has delivered.

So what else does the update fix? You can find the patch notes here, but here are some significant changes/fixes:

  • Fixed some of Black Adam’s voice lines not playing properly.
  • Batman can now cancel one of his jabs two frames earlier.
  • Fixed a Harley Quinn bug that could, potentially, be exploited by players.
  • Reduced Wonder Woman’s character weight.

The notes also explain some of the team’s future plans for various brawlers. Batman, for example, will be getting new combos and Morty is going to become more of a bruiser.

The update, spectator mode included, is available now. If you’ve not played MultiVersus you can read our impressions here and pick it up – free – on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
