Silent Hill: The Short Message has been rated in Taiwan and it’s coming to PlayStation 5.
What’s particularly curious about Silent Hill: The Short Message is that while the game was rated in Korea back in December, it wasn’t mentioned during Konami’s Silent Hill stream. Now, as reported by Gematsu, it’s been rated in Taiwan and it’s set to land on the PlayStation 5.
Could this be a brand new, full-blown Silent Hill game? Probably not, given the title. It’s possible it’s some kind of app, rounding up the story to date. But what we’re really hoping for is that it’s a small, short Silent Hill game, possibly a visual novel.
We’ve always wondered what it’d be like to get a series of small, stand-alone Silent Hill tales. Spin-off graphic novel, Three Bloody Tales, shows it can be done. There were also two Silent Hill mobile games that never made it to the west, so there’s a precedent for shorter Silent Hill stories.
Hopefully we’ll soon find out what Silent Hill: The Short Message really is. We’d all but forgotten about it and now it’s back the suspense is killing us. Actually, given that Konami has taken to dabbling in NFTs, choosing to celebrate Castlevania’s 35th anniversary with them, perhaps we’re better off knowing.
