You might not always be up for a fight in Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale and so the question is: can you escape from combat? Here’s what you need to know.
Sometimes you can be minding your own business, heading to a new objective to planning to dock into a nearby port when a fellow pirate gets an eye on your booty. Out of nowhere, you can be pursued. Perhaps you can take on the fight: maybe they’re weaker than you. But quite often, you might be attacked by an opponent with more ships and more firepower than you. And so, you’re probably wondering if you can escape from or avoid combat in Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale.
The answer isn’t a positive one, we’re afraid. If you start the combat yourself, you can choose to back out of it before the fight begins. But if you’ve been pursued by someone else, the answer is no, you can’t escape combat in Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale. You have no choice but to engage. You can try to intimidate your opponent, but if they’re stronger, you have very little chance of succeeding. And that means warfare is the only way.
It’s perhaps a flaw of Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale that you can’t simply try to run away – sorry, sail away – from a fight you’re not ready for. Sometimes, a loss is inevitable and it’s a fight you couldn’t avoid. Losing everything when you least expect it isn’t fun.
There are a few tips to try to mitigate the chances of you ending up in unwanted combat, however. If you’re pursuing a ship, avoid approaching it with your flag up when other ships are in the way. And try to stay away from the coastlines of countries you don’t have good affiliations with. You’re most likely to get attacked in those areas.
More importantly, save your game regularly. If you’re caught in an impossible fight, rolling back a save file a few minutes is much better than losing all your ships and loot.
