Are you wondering if you can play Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale with friends in co-op or multiplayer? Here’s what you need to know.
Sailing the seas of the Caribbean as a fearsome pirate is great fun. You can amass a crew of your own, hire new captains to sail alongside you, battle other pirates, and start a roaring trade of buying and selling wanted goods. And as enjoyable as all that is, it’d surely be even better if you could do it with a friend by your side. And so, the question is: does Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale have any multiplayer or co-op features?
Sadly, the answer is no: Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale is strictly a single-player affair. There are no multiplayer modes, no way to play in co-op and no opportunities to play with friends. Developer Gaming Minds has no plans to add any new multiplayer modes into the game, either.
It’s a shame, because as we’ve played there have been some key moments where we felt multiplayer would work. Engaging in battle with other pirates would be great if the other ships were controller by real players, for example. And a co-op campaign letting a friend join us as a fellow pirate would be a fun experience, too.
Unfortunately, those will have to stay pipe dreams, because this pirate game is designed as a strictly solo activity. Not that it’s a bad thing: there’s still plenty to enjoy here. If you really do want a pirate experience with friends, perhaps try Sea of Thieves or Blackwake.
