Green Hell’s Building Update Lets You Take to the Trees

Green Hell Building Update

Green Hell’s upcoming Building Update will let you take to the trees and we couldn’t be happier.

Yes, The Forest already lets you build in trees but, unlike Green Hell, it doesn’t have worms that burrow into your flesh. No, we’re not kidding. If you’ve not played Green Hell, it punishes you for sleeping on the floor by inflicting the aforementioned nightmare parasites on you. The Building Update, on the other hand, will take you far, far away from the jungle floor.

The alternative, of course, it to stay far, far away from Green Hell but, as unforgiving as it can be, it’s still an awful lot of fun. You can read our review to find out why. The Green Hell Building Update has been in beta for a while but is set to arrive on PC as a formal, final update.

So what can you build? Apart from letting you craft your own treehouse, the update will feature:

  • A new floating building frame that supports building up to three stories high
  • A heavy, two-handed stone axe
  • Wooden and bamboo doors
  • Wooden and bamboo doors and platforms
  • The ability to cut down big palms and more, so you can clear extra space

You can find more details here. Is it radically going to change the way you play the game? Probably not. But the idea of messing around in the trees is an appealing one. Let’s just hope that developer Creepy Jar doesn’t decide to let its animals climb.

The Green Hell Building Update is set to hit the PC this January 23rd. As for the console versions? There’s no date as yet but we’d expect it to hit PlayStation, Xbox and Switch a month or three down the line.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got a “No Flesh-Worms Allowed” sign to carve.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
