Xbox has just revealed the two games that Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be getting in February. Don’t get too excited, though.
Since scrapping Xbox 360 games from the line-up last year, Microsoft has made no effort to make its Games With Gold offerings any more enticing. All Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can download two games a month to add to their library, permanent as long as they remain a paying member. But the vast majority of offerings have been budget titles that don’t provide great value for money.
Still, the benefit of getting lesser-known titles means you’re less likely to have played them. Silver linings and all that. Here are the two Games With Gold games you can download in February:
For the King – available from 1st February until 28th February
Originally released on Xbox in 2019, For the King is a strategy RPG that blends together roguelike and tabletop elements. You can play by yourself, or play with a friend either online or locally. Procedural maps make every playthrough different.
Guts ‘N Goals – available from 16th February until 15th March
Guts ‘N Goals is a twist on football/soccer. The pitch looks familiar, but rather than hitting a round ball with your feet, you’re firing hockey pucks with a bat. A blend of hockey, baseball and football, then. You can play single-player but it’s better enjoyed with others in multiplayer or couch co-op. It first released on Xbox in August 2021.
And there you have it. You’ve got until 11.59pm tomorrow, 31st January to download January’s Games With Gold offering, Iris Fall. Autonauts remains available until 15th February, so don’t miss them.
