Hitman World of Assassination is the new name for Marath.. sorry, Hitman 3. And Hitman 2. And Hitman.
Confused? We don’t blame you. But the overall aim of IO Interactive’s move is to remove any confusion that may surround the stealth murder games. The developer is rolling all the levels from Hitman and Hitman 2 into Hitman 3, then renaming Hitman 3 as Hitman World of Assassination.
Previously, if you wanted to play Hitman 1 or 2’s levels in Hitman 3 you’d have to either own the originals or purchase some kind of upgrade pack. And when Hitman 3 hit the Epic Games Store as a timed exclusive, there were questions over how those who’d purchased the Steam of the previous games would access that content.
Now, anyone who has bought Hitman 3 will get all the Hitman 1 and 2 content for free. Those latter two games will be removed from digital stores – instead, there’ll be the following two items:
HITMAN – World of Assassination. This’ll be priced at around $70 and will include all the levels featured in the base versions of Hitman 1, 2 and 3.
HITMAN – World of Assassination Deluxe Pack, priced at $30. This upgrade includes Hitman 2 and 3’s expansion pass content.
IO haven’t confirmed this but we think they’re also doing this so Hitman can receive more episodic content, free or otherwise. We’ve already had one free map, Ambrose Island, but we’d be happy to pay for some quality levels.
“We’re absolutely certain that these changes will have a hugely positive effect on existing players and new players alike. It will also make our lives a lot easier too, there’s no doubting that,” the developer remarks.
The changes will take place this January 26th. The company is also working on their as-yet unnamed James Bond game. But with the game’s new Freelancer Mode just round the corner, they’re not done with Agent 47 just yet.
