How to Use Stasis in Dead Space Remake

Dead Space Remake

Have you picked up Dead Space remake’s stasis ability and are wondering how to use it? Here’s what you need to know.

There are a handful of extra abilities you can acquire playing the Dead Space remake and stasis is one of them. In fact, you’ll have to acquire the Stasis skill to progress through the game. But what is it and how can you use it?

You’ll get Stasis pretty early on – it’s found in the Train Station Hall, near the malfunctioning door. Once you pick it up, aim it and fire it at the door (the mini tutorial will let you what the controls are for your platform). The door will slow down and you can nip through. There are other physics puzzles where you’ll need to use stasis, too.

However, you can also use it to fight Necromorphs. Fire the weapon at them – it’s easier to hit if you fire at their feet – and they’ll temporarily slow right down. Then, you can shoot them or wade in and stomp/punch them.

So what’s the catch? There are a couple of issues with stasis. Firstly, it has limited charges, though you can boost that (and its duration) with upgrades. The little semi-circle to the right of Isaac’s energy meter shows you how much charge you have.

Secondly, when it comes to slowing down doors, it only works on specific doors. We tried solving what we thought was a physics puzzle but the door ignored our stasis powers. We spent a good half an hour doing that, too.

So that’s how you use Stasis in Dead Space remake. Have fun slowing things down to a crawl.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
