3D Platformer Clive ‘N’ Wrench from One-Man Studio Launches Today

Clive 'N' Wrench

If you’re a fan of old-school 3D platformers, a new game has released today that you might want to jump into.

Clive ‘N’ Wrench has been designed to ape the 3D platforming classics of the 90s and early 2000s. It puts players in control of Clive, a go-getting rabbit, accompanied by Wrench, a small and oh-so cute monkey on his back. Wrench is not just a companion, either; he’s got many uses, including helping Clive fly through the air as he spins him like a helicopter. We promise no monkeys were harmed in the making of this game.

Spread across various levels and taking players on a journey through time and space, Clive ‘N’ Wrench is bound to appeal to anyone who grew up playing the likes of Spyro the Dragon, Banjo & Kazooie and Jak & Daxter.

What we find most fascinating about Clive ‘N’ Wrench, though, is that it’s largely been developed by just one person. Dinosaur Bytes is the studio name of Rob Wass, the brains of the game. This is a passion project that he’s been working on for over a decade. And finally, the fruits of his hard work is out in the wild for all to play.

Whether or not the 3D platforming genre is for you, there’s no denying that creating an entire game by yourself is a serious achievement. We’ve got the utmost respect for Rob and wish him every success.

We’ve not yet had time to delve into the game ourselves, but you can expect our thoughts on Clive ‘N’ Wrench next week. But don’t wait to find out what we think: go make your own mind up. It’s available now on PS4, PS5, Switch and PC. Give the trailer a watch below.
